Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is a divine piece of earth in North India and is a home of eternal snows. It is a place where nature has beautifully woven combinations of both the majestic and the gentle. Himachal is predominantly rural and agrarian and major part of its population lives in villages. The state culturally has three well defined zones. The tribal belt holds the districts of Kinnaur, Lahul and Spiti is largely Buddhist area of Himalayan belt of Tibeto-Burmese. The mid belt mainly the body of Hinduism and practice settled cultivation and is famous for the hill stations of Shimla, Dalhousie and Kasauli. Dramatic variations of architecture, lifestyles and terrain all adds to the richness of travel experience in more ways than one.

There are five well developed core focus zones that draw maximum numbers of visitors are the terms of Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Dalhousie, Chamba, Dharamshala, Palampur and the tribal area of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur. Each has several attractions and encompasses a variety of sightseeing and activity. Also act as pivots for the spectrum off-beat excursions. Foreigners visiting the upper reaches of Kinnaur and Spiti require a permit from the State Authority.

The other circuit is Beas Circuit covering destinations like Mandi, Joginder Nagar, Rewalsar, Kullu, Naggar, Manali, Raison, Katrain, Manikaran, Kasol and Swarghat. The Ravi Circuit includes destinations like Dalhousie, Khajjiar and Chamba.

Kinnaur, Lahol and Spiti are major Buddhist Circuit with other monasteries at Lindur, Bokar, Gumrang, etc.
